Dear Loyal Supporter,
Since 2000, the generosity of parents, alumni and community members has allowed the Orono Foundation for Education to raise over nearly $8 million of additional funding for Orono Schools. This private funding has helped propel Orono Schools to rank among the very top in the nation. Each year, the Foundation raises funds to support the district’s strategic initiatives and priorities, such as Character Education, Teacher Development and most recently, STEAM.
The Orono School community shares the strong belief that every student should be empowered to achieve their highest potential and it is because of you, the dedicated Orono School community, that our 2019 – 2020 fiscal year is one to celebrate, despite the odds.
2020 Achievements
We are overjoyed to share with you some of the great successes that were achieved this year with your continued support and partnership.
- The honor of granting a total of $464,000 this fiscal year, to the Orono Schools. This grant included a $40K character grant that provided new character council resources and training for over 90 teachers, a $80K literacy grant, a $70K STEAM grant, $28K for technology and $25K for teacher development.
- Through a concerted effort, OFE achieved a significant decrease in our expense ratio by lowering operational costs, relocating office space and minimizing overall spending.
- Largest ever attendance at our new parent coffee this fall.
- Largest attendance and gift totals at our annual fall breakfast within the last five years.
- The Morningside Park Homecoming Tailgate was our largest Great Gathering to date.
- Celebrating the end of the school year with a ‘Grand Finale‘ virtual concert that had over 1,000 views.
As we celebrate the success of our 2019-20 fiscal year, we thank everyone who made it possible by donating their time, talent and/or financial resources in support of Orono Schools.
