The Orono Foundation for Education, previously the Orono Alliance for Education, represents all of us who understand that the best gift we can give our children is the gift of education.
The Orono Alliance for Education began in 2000 as a partnership between the Orono community, the school board and district administration to preserve and enhance the value of an Orono education in an environment of decreasing state funding. Parents came together and raised funds to save important programs that were set to be cut. These programs include K-8 World Languages, Middle School Band, and the Gifted and Talented Program. To this day, the Foundation helps to sustain and grow these, and other programs, in Orono Schools.
In 2012, we changed our name to the Orono Foundation for Education to more clearly communicate the purpose of the organization. OFE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization comprised of parents, alumni and community members who are passionate about the quality of education in Orono. Our kids are our legacy and together we can give them the exceptional environment and education they deserve to be successful.
