Anonymous donor increases donation for a community match challenge with a meaningful incentive for OPS – and that’s no joke!

Last month we shared the incredible news of an anonymous donor coming forward with a donation that doubles the impact for donations made through the end of the 2020/21 school year with a match challenge for the community. Read the press release.

In celebration of the Orono Foundation’s 20th anniversary, a longtime supporter agreed to match all donations made to OFE before the end of the school year, June 9th, 2021, up to $20,000, topping it off with a $5,000 incentive if the match was achieved. Following the success of OFE’s recent “Laugh It Up For Orono” virtual night of comedy, and the incredible generosity from the community thus far, OFE is very close to the initial goal.

“After the show, I was pretty excited to call the donor to tell them the good news – that we almost reached the goal!” said OFE Board Chair and Orono parent, Heather Pilakowski. “Without hesitation they offered to increase the match AND the incentive!”

With nearly a month left to go for the match challenge, the donor has raised the bar even further and generously increased the original donation another $10,000, bringing the total match challenge to $30,000 with an even bigger added incentive of an additional $10,000 should the match be achieved (for a total of $40,000).

Can we reach the $30,000 match that unlocks the $10,000 incentive?

“We are amazed by and grateful for the generosity of this longtime Foundation supporter.” said Heather. “We hope this gift will inspire others to invest in our kids’ future and provide the opportunity to double contributions during a year when fundraising has been incredibly difficult.”
